What is Second Chance about?

The book is in two parts. The first is my wife Carol’s and my own personal perspective of the journey from illness to health. I felt it was essential for the reader to get an impression of how one feels and deals with the realisation that one may forever be dependant on intensive health care and, the kindness and goodwill of family and friends. Carol was tasked to write a chapter of her feelings and observations of the illness from beginning to transplant. If I may say so, Carols insight makes the book! You will discover what I mean by this when you read her chapter. So the first part is a personal and in truth emotional recollection of my illness. The book needed more! Part Two

Part two has become more than half of the book. There are no facts and figures. Comments on procedures or possibilities for the future. It is six chapters which will allow those who are ill, facing surgery of any degree, to work with the illness and open their mind to how they can make the journey a little easier. Part two is not a hand book of health and cures, far from it. It is a series of thoughts and ideas which will help to clarify the confusions. Part one leaves the reader in no doubt of the emotional difficulties, concerns and aspects of my illness. Part two guides the reader to how I resolved the situation within my mind. I feel the book will have a purpose to everyone who encounters disease.
